These fun bags hang on the back of the kids' chair on Valentine's Day at breakfast filled with goodies from Mom and Dad (usually a book and a few little chocolates).

Ever since last summer when I saw these cute bags on Jon and Kate Plus 8 (have you seen that show?) I thought they were adorable and wanted to add that fun tradition to our family Valentine's Day! They were from Pottery Barn Kids and these mail bags can no longer be purchased. I've seen a few sell on eBay for way too much! Like myself, people are going crazy for these things!

After seeing these cute bags made by Heather Bailey, I almost couldn't wait to start my project!

My plan is to have the kids names monogrammed on these.
Cole's is the one without the cute ruffles.
The cute little buttons on the back are my favorite!

Polka dots on the inside.
Aren't these fun? You must make some! For these I embellished the pattern that I used for the Halloween Candy Bags. I added a 3 inch side and bottom piece to make them look a little more square, a flap on top to close the bag, a little peek a boo heart and backpack straps with buttons. But you wouldn't even have to do all that! The pattern would work as is! And it is such a cinch!
I don't know what it is that I love so much about Valentine's Day! Maybe it's because I love all the pink and red colors I get to put up around my house! ;)

AMy - I love those!!!!
These are darling! So is your new header!
So how much can I buy them from you for? I am being totally serious. Valentines is one of my favorite holidays and those are the cutest things ever.
I would also like to purchase two! And I'm not kidding either... I think Jaime's right and you should sell them! So I want two please. Same colors and pattens. I think that would be so cute to do for Ike and Molly. Just put a new surprise in them everyday the week of Valentines Day!
I would like to add my order!! haha But serious like everyone else! Those are the cutest things ever! You are seriously amazing. Your house is darling at Valentines! I am so jealous!
Also, love the new pictures of the kids on the header! They are darling!!
Whoa! Let's not get ahead of ourselves peeps! I'd love to take orders from all of you but I don't think little ol'me could handle the volume! But flattered, yes! Come on you car seat canopyers! You can do it! Get together, stay up all night and crank some out!;) You'll enjoy every minute of it!
Adorable!! Love the valentine pictures of your kids too!! You are a cute mommy!
Wow, these are sooooo cute!! (Cuter than the Pottery Barn ones, I think!)
Your banner is really cute!
honestly, amy, i had no idea you were so freakin talented. you amaze me. those bags are so adorable - and something i could only do in my dreams. too bad for me.
Amy I am no seamstress. You should see the skirt I just made Aubrey. I won't tell anyone if you just sell 4 to me. It will be our little secret.
Amy, I am DYING!!! These are adorable!! Are you kidding me? Where did you inherit this trait??? Grandma, huh!?!?
Amy- great job! they are adorable!! I am going to attempt them, but may need help :) Polly
I saw your blog over at tip junkie. This is an adorable idea.
I love those bags. I have been looking for them since I saw them on Jon and Kate, too. Thanks so much for the pattern.
OK OK So you won't take orders--of course I would need 6 of them. I wouldn't need them for my children but for my students. These would be AWESOME Valentine "boxes" for my students as they are all in wheelchairs. This way they could have all of their goodies in the bag and have it either hanging off one of the arms of the chair or off the back (depending on the style of their chair). If you won't make them for us, how about giving us a bit more of a hint--like pattern sizes, how-tos, or a tutorial even! Draw it out and sell us the pattern and email it to us. These are AWESOME Amy S.!

So adorable! You did such a beautiful job! So nice to discover your blog! My friend showed me these yesterday. She is in love with these little totes=D I posted a link for my friends to see.
Hey, it's me again=) Have you ever heard of wild ginger? It is a sewing program that makes custom patterns for seamstresses.
Anyway, they have a FREE download for SEVERAL different styled handbags, diaper bags, totes, purses, hats, gloves, capes--and you can make them to your measurements and it will print the pattern for you. It is so helpful for diaper bags, book bags, purses, and random dress up events in the year for kiddies. Check it out=) It is really awesome and not a gimmick! I have used it a lot!
